Microsoft word has been an important aspect of my academic career throughout my entire life. I remember my first time really using it in middle school. My English teacher would always assign us weekly articles and required them to be typed. This was the period when I began to heavily rely on Microsoft word for every typed assignment. I was never really required to use Microsoft in elementary school because my teachers did not care for technology. After middle school, I began to use MS word more frequently. It seemed as if every teacher required typed assignments which led me to using word even more. I began to use it for more important things like formatting scholarship letters, college acceptance essays, and resumes.
When completing essays, my teachers have addressed the importance of properly using copyrighted materials and using them in our work. My experience with using copyrighted materials and fair use has been a very tricky one. Whenever I'm citing quotes or important information from a copyrighted work without permission, I make sure to do it in the correct way. It gets intimidating at times because I want to be very careful about the way in which I use these materials. When I become an educator, I will continue instilling the importance of fair use of materials as well as teaching them how to do it correctly.
When implementing technology in the classroom, it is important to consider the issues that may arise. For example, as stated in chapter nine, some students may not have access to internet at home to complete the take home assignments that require the internet. Also, students may experience cyber bullying online when they shouldn't have to experience that. Lastly, some students may be more tech savvy then others, allowing them to have a head start. In becoming an educator, my goal is to decrease these issues as much as I will try to provide as many solutions as possible. First, I will allow my students to access computers in school and make sure they know where to find them. Secondly, I will address the issue of cyber bullying, reassuring them that it is never okay to do that, especially when you're supposed to be completing assignments. Lastly, I plan to educate my students on basic software that will help them excel in and out of the classroom.

I think one of the reasons that teacher requires students to type their work is typed articles are much easier to read comparing to handwriting. In addition, I personally find typing is faster than writing. That's something technology help us in improving our proficiency.
